Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:4, 6-7 NLT
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not
be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.”
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He
that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?”
Romans 8:31-32 ASV
I like to think of the term unbothered as a modern day interpretation of peace. The peace I know is not how the world defines it but as the scripture illustrates it. The type of peace that is assuring even in the chaos. When your surroundings are contrary to stability, but you still remain unmoved. That’s the kind of peace I have, I don’t need the harsh winds to stop in order to stand still. This is puzzling to many people because it sparks the question, “how can one remain unbothered in-spite of the legitimate threats around them?” I have one answer for you, because I’m grounded in the One who is stronger. I’m grounded in the One who is the Master of the Sea. The One who overcame the turmoil of life. You see I am unbothered because of the One who is in me.
I know this surpasses human understanding, because often times we think we have to escape the drama in order to experience tranquility. Don’t get me wrong, the things that I face are very troubling from time to time. The threats are very real and I am walking by faith day by day. But I learned through walking with Jesus, I’m anxious for what? If God be for me, who or what can be against me? Not sickness, joblessness, failures, inadequacies, hurts, or people can defeat God’s purpose for my life!
At an early age, God gave me a burning desire to be a judge. I know God has called me to this career and He confirmed many times through people of God, family, my professors and circumstances! Recently, God challenged me to believe bigger than criminal judge, so Supreme Court justice came to my heart! God showed me slowly but surely that He wants me to be a voice against abortion rights, racial discrimination, inequality, same sex marriage and other major constitutional issues. God called me to set His Word as the rightful basis for laws again. Where God calls us to, He makes provision for. So why be bothered? I am unbothered. When things like no money for law school arises, I don’t have to worry because I trust in God’s unfailing love for me. His thoughts of me are good and He have plans for me to prosper.
If God gave His only Son for me, what other good thing will He not give me?! His Word says, He will not hold any good thing from His children. If an unjust father can give what their children needs, how much more will the Heavenly, Just Father give His children what they need!
I believe every word God spoke to me and He brought me this far, so why can’t He take me further? I pray about everything and make my requests known to God! I ask in Jesus name and believe that I have received my requests. It’s mine! I will rejoice in the Lord and His peace surrounds me. He always make a way and I have numerous testimonies of the Lord’s miracles in my life. So I say again, why be bothered? I am unbothered. As long as Jesus is in my boat, I can securely rest during the storms! And if He asks me to step out on the water, I will boldly do so because I know that I will not sink as long as I keep my eyes on Jesus! When the storm is over, I won’t be soaked and there will be no evidence of the storm on me! I will be the next female black Supreme Court Justice! I laugh at the future! I am unbothered.
