Forever Love

Never Enough

I think a lot of love and What it means to me.

I want to believe that I love Wholly and unconditionally

But, I’m learning my love is fragile

With rules and terms that change

With each new hurt.

I’m confidently aware of the flaws that I know of

And hopelessly ignorant of the festering defects.

Until they open wide enough to swallow me whole

When I learn that my love Is insufficient

Even for me.

I always thought that I was the one to love the most.

It’s just the way life has worked out. I love in real time, with thoughts, action, and caring. I like to see people happy and I take special pleasure in seeing the people I love the most be well.

I’ve quietly given my last and my all to make sure that the people around me were good...until I realized that they didn’t necessarily love me back the same way.

This is not to say that I’ve gone my whole life in a series of unrequited relationships, but instead noting I had made a habit of over extending myself to people who couldn’t love me whole.

I didn’t stop be loving, I just began to be a little more selfish with my love. My love now came with conditions and after every hurt the list of reasons to withdraw love became longer.

Aren’t we so glad that God’s love doesn’t work that way?

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 KJV)

So when God says He loves us, He means it.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” (Ephesians 2:4-5 KJV)

His love is forever and without condition.

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39 KJV)

I just want to encourage you today to consider how much God loves you. How He made the ultimate sacrifice for you, just so that you could experience His love, His grace, and His mercy. Consider sharing His love with someone today.

When you love others with the love of God in you, you can love them more perfectly. The only One with truly unconditional love, forever love is God and when we love with Him, His love will go further than you could ever hope to alone.

Agape

Undoubtedly

The goal for me is to love how Christ loves

It is a goal only perfected through practice

So I practice love

Daily

My struggle is that I am human

And while Christ can love for millennia Unrequited

There’s a particular and peculiar depletion that occurs When you love without condition

People who have not “earned” love

Do not value it

So they take without reciprocation

Leaving the handful that do to

Somehow

Love the lack

But the secret to loving like Christ is

To love with Christ

To not martyr yourself for a cause

He has already died for

Remembering that His love is sufficient for us all
